The Abarth 600, a 100% electric sports SUV that will arrive in 2024

FIAT will present the replacement for the successful 500X, the 600. Even though its name takes us back to the tiny utility that motorized Spain six decades ago under the SEAT brand (which at that time manufactured FIAT models under license), in reality, the new 600 will have little to do with his illustrious predecessor.

The 21st century FIAT 600 will be an approximately 4.10-meter-long SUV derived from the Jeep Avenger based on the second generation CMP/eCMP platform.

Abarth 600, a 100% electric sports SUV

It will begin to be manufactured in Tychy (Poland) in the middle of the year, while the first units will reach dealers throughout September.

Although the 600 will have mild-hybrid mechanics, the truth is that the version that interests us the most is the electric one, which will be the first to be presented.

This model will equip an efficient 156 hp (115 kW) and 260 Nm engine developed by Emotors, the joint venture between the Stellantis group and the Japanese specialist Nidec.

Our protagonist will be front-wheel drive. Its battery pack will have 54 kWh of gross capacity (51 useful kWh), more than enough to standardize a range of approximately 400 km under the European WLTP cycle.

As for the load, it will reach a maximum of 11 kW in alternating current and 100 kW in direct current (20-80% in 24 minutes).

The Abarth 600 will be the cousin of the Jeep Avenger 4×4

Later the range will be completed with the arrival of a high-performance variant signed by Abarth.

Although the technical details of this model are still unknown, one thing is certain, and that is that it will provide an extra spice that will turn the small Italian SUV into a true electrified hot hatch.

Everything indicates that the Abarth 600 will share a drivetrain with the 4×4 version of the Jeep Avenger, which will add a second motor on the rear axle to achieve a combined power of 240 CV (177 kW). While the Jeep will be geared towards off-road driving, the Abarth will have a decidedly sporty setup.

Steering, brakes, and suspensions will be adapted to digest the greater power of the set. In addition, the car will also receive a specific aesthetic kit, which will include more aggressive bumpers, side skirts, aerodynamic wheels, and a spoiler crowning the tailgate… Of course, customers will have numerous customization options at their disposal.
