2024 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT: the brand’s most powerful electric car is a wild 1,108 HP sedan
The 2024 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT is already among us, and multiple records were broken when it arrived. With a time of 1:27.87 minutes, when equipped with the optional Weissach package, it has become the fastest production electric car on the Laguna Seca circuit. It also is the fastest four-door vehicle on the Nürburgring, finishing in 7:07.55 minutes.
In contrast to the Taycan Turbo S’s 600 amp pulse inverter, our protagonist’s rear axle is equipped with a pulse inverter, a crucial component for controlling the electric motor, that can handle up to 900 amps of current. That allows for an increase in power and torque. Silicon carbide is used as a semiconductor in this part.
Power rises to 788 HP (580 kW), and with Launch Control, it reaches 1,033 HP (760 kW) and 1,108 HP (815 kW) for two seconds. The vehicle can reach a top speed of 290 km/h (305 km/h with the Weissach package) and go from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.3 seconds (2.2 seconds with the Weissach package). There is 555 km of WLTP autonomy.
The side skirt inserts, upper mirror caps, and B-pillar moldings have all been made lighter than the Turbo S by up to 75 kg, thanks to carbon fiber. The tailgate’s electric soft-close feature has been turned off, and the seats are composed of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP). The Weissach package removes much of the equipment and the back seats for the track to save an additional 70 kg.
The 2024 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT will begin deliveries this spring.
High-performance summer tires mounted on 21-inch forged wheels, ceramic brakes, and the Porsche Active Ride suspension with GT-specific tuning are standard equipment on the Turbo GT. Attack Mode is a brand-new feature that provides up to 163 HP (120 kW) more for 10 seconds. The first deliveries of this model are scheduled for this spring, with a price tag of $196,550 in the USA and 248,685 euros in Europe.
Vice President of the Taycan Range Kevin Giek exclaims, “The records from Laguna Seca and the Nürburgring show the great potential that the Taycan has on the circuit.” «Having the most power is insufficient to establish your value on the track. Aerodynamics, stability, cornering grip, acceleration and braking, and set-up must be sufficient.
Our engineers have done a fantastic job at achieving this in the Taycan Turbo GT and the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package. “The new GTs once again raise the bar in driving dynamics, but they have already done a great job with the current and recently updated Taycan models.”
