The entire 2024 Lucid Air lineup has been officially listed on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) website, allowing us to delve into the details of these updated electric vehicles.
New Additions and Updates
For 2024, Lucid has introduced several changes to its Air lineup. A new entry-level Pure RWD version has replaced the previous all-wheel-drive variant, while the high-performance Lucid Air Sapphire has taken over from the Grand Touring Performance, offering even faster acceleration. In between, we have the Lucid Air Touring and Lucid Air Grand Touring models, each with slight adjustments to their driving ranges compared to the 2023 models.
Model Specifications and Ranges
- Lucid Air Pure RWD: Equipped with an 88-kilowatt-hour battery, this version offers an EPA Combined range of 419 miles. Opting for the 20-inch wheels reduces the range to 394 miles. That is an improvement over the previous AWD version, which had ranges of 410 miles and 384 miles, respectively.
- Lucid Air Touring: This AWD-only model features a 92-kWh battery with an EPA range of 411 miles. However, the range decreases with larger wheels: 382 miles with 20-inch wheels and 365 miles with 21-inch wheels, a drop of 46 miles or 11.1%.
- Lucid Air Grand Touring: Featuring a larger, yet undisclosed battery (likely around 118-120 kWh), this model boasts an impressive 516-mile range with 19-inch wheels. It’s the only EV on the market with an EPA Combined range exceeding 500 miles. Larger wheels reduce the range significantly to 485 miles with 20-inch wheels and 450 miles with 21-inch wheels, a decrease of 66 miles or 12.8%.
- Lucid Air Sapphire: The top-tier, performance-focused model offers an EPA range of 427 miles, slightly more than the base Pure model.

The only EV surpassing this efficiency is the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 SE RWD Long Range, rated at 140 MPGe. However, the Lucid Air excels in highway efficiency, with 134 MPGe compared to the Ioniq 6’s 127 MPGe.
- Lucid Air Touring AWD: This model consumes about 3% more energy, rated at 133 MPGe (253 Wh/mi or 3.9 miles/kWh). The Grand Touring AWD with 19-inch wheels is close behind at 129 MPGe (261 Wh/mi or 3.8 miles/kWh), with efficiency dropping to 3.4-3.5 miles/kWh with larger wheels.
- Lucid Air Sapphire: As the most performance-oriented model, it is less efficient, achieving only 105 MPGe (321 Wh/mi or 3.1 miles/kWh).

Pricing and Incentives
After recent price cuts, the Lucid Air starts at $69,900 (plus a $1,575 destination charge). The AWD Touring version is priced $8,000 higher, while the Grand Touring AWD, with its larger battery, adds $32,000 ($40,000 more than the Pure). The exclusive Lucid Air Sapphire carries a hefty price tag of $250,000.
It’s important to note that none of the Lucid Air models qualify for the $7,500 federal tax credit, as even the base model exceeds the $55,000 price cap.
