Volkswagen Tiguan 2024: a compact format with 100 km of electric autonomy
The Tiguan is perhaps the most significant vehicle in Volkswagen’s current lineup. It is the German brand’s best-selling vehicle, outpacing the Golf and the Polo, but it was getting on in years, and last year saw a noticeable fall in sales as a result. The third generation of the Volkswagen Tiguan SUV, which features more innovations than ever before and plug-in hybrid models with far longer electric ranges than before was recently unveiled by the company.
Volkswagen Tiguan 2024 Redesign
The most popular Volkswagen model enters its third generation. More advanced technology including hybrid models with up to 100 km of electric range and certain features borrowed from the Touareg.
The design evolves similarly since we are dealing with a whole new generation. The front borrows the design of the ID models, including a horizontal glass strip and very flat LED headlamps that span the width of the hood. For the first time, IQ. Light HD matrix headlights are available for the Tiguan.
Volkswagen Tiguan 2024 Exterior
The Tiguan has a more commanding aspect, with a massive front grille that virtually fills the whole front width below the bumper line (only a small portion serves as an air inlet). The black grille terminates at the air vents on the outside edges of the bumper.
The wheel arches, which can hold tires up to 20 inches in diameter, are characterized by clearly defined shoulders above them in the side view. In the rear, there is a horizontal strip of LED lights against a black backdrop with all-new lighting, a revised bumper, and absolutely no faux exhaust pipes.
The model name is now shown below the license plate in this new generation as opposed to above it. the design is now significantly more aerodynamic—the aerodynamic drag coefficient has decreased from 0.33 to 0.28—is one of its primary features. That naturally leads to less gasoline being used.
The new Tiguan is now 4,539 mm long, an increase of three centimeters in length. The trunk capacity increases by 37 liters, to 652 (up to the tray), although the height, breadth, and wheelbase are almost unchanged from those of its predecessor.
Volkswagen Tiguan 2024 Interior
Along with an entirely redesigned exterior, the inside has a Digital Cockpit instrument panel, a 15-inch touch screen in the center, and no physical controls or buttons on the dashboard. The infotainment system is new as well, and it is speedier and has more features. The Tiguan may now have massaging seats, one of the optional upgrades.
The gear lever is located behind the steering wheel, as is typical in its most recent models. It has been replaced by a multipurpose rotary button with a tiny OLED screen in its former location. You may change the ambient lighting, driving mode, and music level using this control.
The electric parking brake and the button to start the car are the only two buttons. The steering wheel, which once more contains physical buttons in place of the previous system’s haptic controls or the screen is used to operate everything else. Volkswagen also emphasizes that the materials used are now of a higher caliber.
Plug-in hybrid with 100 km of electric range
The third-generation Tiguan utilizes the Modular Transversal Platform (MQB EVO) to its fullest potential. This translates into the potential for the so-called Tiguan hybrid plug-in hybrid system.
Volkswagen Tiguan 2024 Engine and Powertrain
It will be powered by the same engine as the new Passat Variant, which comes in variants with 204 or 272 HP and a battery with a net capacity of 19.7 kWh that permits up to 100 kilometers of authorized electric autonomy. Additionally, all hybrid variants will have quicker AC charging (ranging from 3.6 to 11 kW), and for the first time, direct current charging (50 kW) is an option.
Volkswagen Tiguan 2024 Trims
There will also be variants with a mild hybrid engine (eTSI), a turbodiesel engine (TDI), and a turbo petrol engine (TSI), all of which will only be available in conjunction with an automatic gearbox (DSG) in the future.
Tech Features
Volkswagen has updated its adaptive chassis control and now offers the option of pairing two-valve shock absorbers with DCC Pro. Additionally, Dynamic Gear Management, a feature first seen in the current Golf GTI, is included as standard equipment. The system regulates the DCC Pro system shock absorbers and the electronic differential locking (XDS). To make the dynamic behavior more neutral and stable while still being more nimble when necessary, it applies brake interventions to each wheel and selectively adjusts the hardness of each shock absorber.
Volkswagen Tiguan 2024 Release Date
In the first quarter of 2024, the new Tiguan will be available at dealerships. Prices for the Spanish market are currently unknown.
Volkswagen Tiguan 2024 Safety Features
