The 2025 Alfa Romeo Giulia EV will arrive with 700 kilometers of autonomy and up to 1,000 HP of power
Alfa Romeo will have an exclusively electric range starting in 2027. That is a remarkably ambitious objective if we consider that the biscione firm still needs to have a model of this type in its offer (its first electric, the Milano urban SUV, will arrive on the market in 2024). Therefore, the company will have to undertake one of the sector’s fastest and most radical transformations.
As part of this process, Alfa Romeo will electrify what has been its only two products, the Giulia and Stelvio, framed in the D segment for years. While the sedan will be renewed in 2025, the SUV will do the same in 2026 after It arrives as a flagship for the E segment.
The brand’s CEO, Jean-Philippe Imparato, has stated that the Giulia would continue to be a conventional sedan. «I genuinely think that when we discuss aerodynamics, we discuss electricity, and when we discuss aerodynamics, we discuss a saloon or sedan. “Even if the world is switching to SUVs, I don’t want to become an SUV brand.” This kind of silhouette will reappear.
The design of the electric Giulia and Stelvio has already been finalized. Stellantis recently began adapting its plant in Cassino (Italy) to accommodate production of both in the coming years. Everything indicates that the Giulia will abandon its current sedan format to embrace more sporty lines, either a “coupe” sedan or a shooting brake family car.
2025 Alfa Romeo Giulia charged in just 18 minutes
I refuse to give up on the market for sedans. Alfa has always had a sports sedan in its DNA. However, I acknowledge several recommendations about Giulia’s estate version were made. There may be a turning point between n and maybe station wagon. We can have the best of all worlds with the new Giulia.
Initially, the Giulia and the Stelvio will use the STLA Large platform, which will debut next year with the Dodge Charger Daytona. Although this architecture has been conceived from scratch to house electric drive trains, it will maintain the direction and suspension scheme of the Giorgio thermal platform.
According to Imparato’s announcement, the next Giulia will have an approximate WLTP range of 700 km and can be charged in 18 minutes (10-80%) using an 800-volt system. “We don’t want you to spend hours charging your car.” Its 350 horsepower access version will increase to 800 horsepower in the Veloce variant. The Quadrifoglio Verde’s peak performance will be close to 1,000 horsepower.
